Greetings Everyone, I hope this finds everyone getting ready for calving
season. Can you believe it
is just around the corner?!
I was out in the country the other day and there is a few baby calves
already showing up; what a great time of year to see the new crop of
calves start hitting the ground.
It is exciting to see if your new bulls that you purchased last
spring are doing the job that you thought they should.
I ask a good friend of mine what his favorite time of year was
and he said when I shut the sprinklers off and when I start calving.
For those of us in agriculture it is a great life, thanks for
letting MLA be a part of yours. We had a great sale here on Tuesday, January 24th,
a little over 1300 head in the yards with about 300 head of weigh up
cows and bulls and 1000 feeders.
The market was strong with cows $2.00 to $3.00 higher and bulls
$3.00 to $4.00 higher - a 2,220 lb. charolais bull brought $1.00 even.
The feeder market was steady to $2.00 higher and buyer activity
was great. Looking down the trail February 10th will
be a Feeder Special and February 14th will be a Stock Cow
Special and Regular Sale Combination we have some nice stock cows coming
for that sale. If you have
cattle to consign please get those consignments to us as soon as you can
so we can get them advertised and let our buyers know that your cattle
are coming to town. Please be safe and hope to see you at a sale real
soon.
